Born and bred in Upper Hut, Wellington, his passion for food stemmed from his Grandma's offal cookery, which Des explains as "memorable." Being an inspired and driven chef, naturally Des found himself working at some of the top restaurants in the country.
The decision to head out to the country was one based around family time and an aspiration to live the pasture to plate philosophy that The Hunting Lodge Restaurant offers. Leaving fine dining as a thing in the past, Des is passionate about offering something approachable and rustic. His confession of being a “closet bogan” certainly does seem to suit his relocation to West Auckland.
Favourite Dish: "Done right, it's Peking Duck".
Asher's story in hospitality begun in his home land, South Africa. Luckily for him, his father was a great home chef in Johannesburg with a very well kitted out kitchen.
After growing up in a 'foodie' environment, Asher found himself working at a South African pizza chain names St Elmo's.
You wouldn't pick it but Asher's interests extend to gaming, and he even has his own classic games console collection.
Favourite Dish: Slow cooked BBQ ribs.
Ann has an undoubtable passion for wining and dining across Auckland to keep up with what's new on the hospo scene. She has an obsession with naming her animals after alcoholic products, for example her pig Alba (named after the Spanish wine, Albariño) & her cat Grappa (names after the Italian spirit).
Growing up around chefs, Ann has always had a passion for food and hospitality. Particularly fascinated with hotels, she began working in The Hilton at 18 years old.
Ann lives locally Waimauku and loves the countryside.
